Immersive4 company, founded by ARVRTech, has been awarded along with other 24 enterprises the grant from The Innovation Fund, initiated by The Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development and provided by World Bank.
The winning teams will receive grants amounting together to 2,5 million EUR for the commercial development of their innovative products and their solutions bring value to different industries.
Evaluators from the independent external commission did not have an easy task to select 25 winners from 237 proposals that have been received for two subcategories: Innovations in Early Development Stage and Innovations to be Co-financed.
The Minister for Innovation and Technological Development Nenad Popovic was one of the speakers to address winners during the reception at The Hall of The City of Belgrade on Friday 8 December, 2017.
Minister Popović stated that ‘‘the development of innovation and digital economy is recognized as one of strategic priorities of Serbia.’’ He emphasized that the Government of Serbia wants to develop economy based on knowledge and that the intention of Government is to support the development of innovative entrepreneurship as connections between science and business strengthen and as the financial help increases for funding the new and stronger innovative enterprises.’’
Our company got awarded to continue development of Immersive4Learning platform after 5 years of cutting-edge work on integrating technology and education. The initial concept of the platform Immersive4Learning was developed with the aim to harness the potential of Artificial Intelligence and Virtual Reality and transform how people of different ages, skill sets and personalities learn.
The next steps of commercialization of the innovation will be possible thanks to the grant of the Innovation Fund and the pool of international expertise that becomes more accessible.
Immersive4Learning is an innovative intelligent platform powered by Artificial Intelligence (AI) and a set of pedagogical models for enabling personalized learning process in the virtual environments. There are several innovative aspects of this solution: it is powered on AI, it operates on novel pedagogical models and engages in behaviour monitoring.
The multidisciplinary team of experts was summoned in creating the winning proposal, both from internal company members and external consultants.
On behalf of ARVRtech Maja Pokrić and Boris Pokrić led the application and documentation process, along with prototype development.
Maja Pokric, company CEO, obtained PhD degree in Data Modeling Sciences from UK; has over 20 years of professional experience, including 12 years in UK, and more than 6 years of entrepreneurial experience. Boris Pokrić, CTO of ARVRtech, received PhD degree in Artificial Vision Sciences in the UK; he has over 20 years of professional experience, 12 years in the UK, and more than 10 years of entrepreneurial experience.
External consultants that will join the project are: Ranko Rajović, Silvia Ghilezan, Dušan Skendžić. Mirjana Nikolić and Dina Djilas.
Ranko Rajović, joins the project as the pedagogical expert, Professor of Pedagogy from Koper, Slovenia, and Doctor Specialist in Neuroscience. Dr Rajovic has a proven track record of implementing innovation in education as a creator of innovative NTC learning model used at MENSA world level, and member of board of directors of world MENSA.
Dr Silvia Ghilezan will serve as Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning consultant due to her extensive expertise and serving in the role of Professor and Head of the Centre for Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Novi Sad.
Dušan Skendžić, obtained MBA from Harvard and will serve on the project as Consulting Business Development Manager, thanks to his extensive business development experience with respectable institutions and organizations world-wide.
Mirjana Nikolić (MSc) will have the role of Consulting Chief Content Officer at the project, contributing with remarkable pool of knowledge due to over 20 years in content creation domain for leading companies such as Pixar and Disney.
Dina Djilas participates as a Consultant in Pre-school Education sharing the field expertise with her entrepreneurial venture, the kindergarten ‘‘Wonderland’’ (Zemlja čuda) that has been operating successfully since 2002 in Novi Sad, Serbia.
Immersive4Learning creates a brilliant synergy between the world of technology and pedagogy. Thus, AI assisted authoring with intelligent recommendations is created on the basis of semantic analysis of aims. This platform can be used in formal as well as enterprise education and in different domains, which makes it incredibly applicable to the needs of education market that truly seeks innovation.
Several pedagogical models are used depending on the domain, age group and exact topic, which enables customization and personalization of the platform for every single user. Practically speaking, this personalization and value-adding is seen through dynamic monitoring of behaviour in VR environment and intelligent profiling of learning styles, just for starters.
The important aspect of Intelligent Tutoring System (ITS) is that it provides a way to customize the learning experience for a student on the basis of factors such as pre-existing knowledge, learning style, and the student’s progress through the content material. Learning with ITS can lead to higher outcome scores regardless of the level of schooling (elementary to postsecondary), and whether the research was conducted in a laboratory setting or a classroom
Since Immersive4Learning is led by a group of highly skilled engineers that gained their experience by working on the advanced computer vision, Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR) and Mixed Reality (MR) projects with the leading organizations and institutions across the world, during the upcoming months the next stages of platform development should be completed.
The Innovation Fund and World Bank grant enables the team to devote its energy, time and resources to creative and development side of the project. After a while, the project would be available to educational institutions and it will be used by end-beneficiaries: students and teachers who keep building their knowledge on curiosity and wonder.
