How did Just Out Manasija Festival organizers
amaze their visitors with Augmented Reality technology?

Solution for Just Out Manasija

  • To create the leading segment of the digital marketing campaign in the form of activation, which will provide a unique experience, unlike anything that has been seen in the event management industry in the region.
  • To expose visitors to new and engaging experience by presenting information related to the site using AR technology.
  • To create an appealing solution that will be in alignment with visitors of different cultures.
  • To share the experience with a wider audience and attract them to visit and be associated with Just Out Manasija Festival

Just Out Manasija Festival wanted to harness the potential of new technologies and took the international visitors of the aforementioned Festival on a time travel, which not only happens live during the festival days, but also in the digital arena. The customized technology was created thanks to the magic of Homepage digital marketing agency, the engineering team of our company and Huawei company which helped us present our solution on the newest models of Huawei phones.

Manasija Augmented Reality app showed merging of the pieces of information from the real world together with computer-generated content.

The visitors who access the app on their phones scan the particular marker and they receive the additional information regarding various topics. Once you move closer the phone camera towards the marker the engaging content is triggered. In a matter of seconds, so many historically relevant information will appear on your phone through Augmented Reality technology.

Photo Implemented as Markerless Solution

The new photo that is taken receives additional graphic elements such as event hashtags, branded red and white buttons and frames on the screen.  Two buttons for the markerless version show: either the selfie option for taking photos or a regular photo taking option where different light mode can be adjusted with or without flash.

Digital Content with Markers

Regarding digital content which is displayed when different markers are scanned using a phone camera, we can differentiate among video content, text, and images, as well as AR photo.

Once the appropriate marker is scanned, the video is shown. This video appears on YouTube and not only relates to the medieval leader who inspired the entire Just Out Manasija Festival, but also to the scenes of knighthood and medieval everyday life.

The content represented by text and images provides additional information about Manasija heritage, such as tombstone, archaeological site, researching rare documents and artifacts, as well as the medieval dining room. AR Photo with different medieval weaponry can be captured and shared on social media. The extra value that this marker provided was that visitors could try out objects as if they are real, which knights held centuries ago.  Otherwise, these objects cannot be touched because they were safely stored in the museum part of the monastery. (see following Figures)

The entire festival accepted quite well this new integration of digital and live interaction. Furthermore, all the impressions with the content can be shared via the social media channels: be that Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or elsewhere.

This final result could be looked at the desktop computer, laptop or mobile phone. You can download the app from Google Play and iTunes as Manasija 2016.

Add-ons to future Just Out Manasija Festival app

VR Games

Apart from the Augmented Reality component, it is planned to develop the entire series of knighthood VR games.

The first in series of these VR games, called the Archery is already developed and wowed people with its engaging content. In this game, you are carrying a bow and arrow in your hand, as you ride a horse and try to reach targets.

Not only digital marketers, but also experts in tourism industry accepted very positively all this content, receiving one of the most prestigious awards for digital marketing. Just Out Manasija positioned itself as a remarkable tool for event promotion, which goes beyond open-air festivals that gather mass audience within one niche: enthusiasts for cultural heritage and hobbyists for medieval times. The indirect positive effect and the benefit for the festival is that the more engaged the visitors are, the more likely it is that the bottom line will increase.

Just Out Manasija’s example showed that in event management, congress industry or edutainment, AR and VR are especially good channels to pursue on top of your marketing strategy as with them users are always on their tip-toes with surprise and wonder.

AR and VR are the disruptive technologies in any sector we can imagine. Thus, Just Out Manasija’s result provides that these technologies are more than a topic that visitors will talk about, it is the intuitive platform for presenting old information that people responded well traditionally in a mind-blowing way.
